Sickness and new company

Headache, stuffed nose and a sore throat. This should have been my last 'normal' week with my team, but instead I'm stuck at home.

31.01.07 - Snot, beautiful snot

Yesterday Jon decided that he will not join the Amsterdam-project. He's still really excited about the project, but it didn't really fit his learning goals for the last semester.

The good thing is that I have talked about the project with another class mate, Rolf Arne, earlier and now he's in instead! I'm really looking forward to working with mister Leer, so all we need now is to get some practical stuff sorted out with Clockwork, and then we're hopefully off to Amsterdam!

Kiri Davis is 17 and has made a short film about how black children see themselves in comparison to white children. It's only seven minutes and it raises a couple of uncomfortable questions about equality and the progress we'd liked to have seen happen there.

And while we're at it. In 1972 Bill Cosby addressed the same problem as host of the PBS series The Electric Company. Some scientists might object to a few of his claims..

The Turkish Star Wars

In 1982 some Turkish genius decided he would make a film. It had to be big and important, so he named it Cüneyt Arkin or The man who saves the world. As productions started he realized that he didn't really have the finances to pull his ambitious project off, so he had to kill a few darlings and borrow a few scenes from the original. This Turkish Star Wars is quite a piece of work. Wonderful.

I could watch this stuff for ever

A ball rolls down a slope, hits a pen that falls over a small catapult, launching another ball through a hoop wich again makes... you get the point. It wasn't possible to post the long one, but you can watch it here.

Honda made one of these into a commercial which is pretty cool, though there seems to be some moon'ish gravity at work at some points..



This one is really cool. There are some disturbing graphics in the beginning an a very excited Japanese guy talking all the way through, but absolutely enjoyable.

Back from Amsterdam

Pfiuu! It has been a very adventurous weekend. Business and pleasure molded beautifully together.

Jon and I set off to Amsterdam to find out if we would like to do our final exam project there. The project is for now called Amsterdam Innovation Battle 2007 and will explore an alternative way to solve social issues and giving the process an entertaining schwung and form at the same time.. We will give Theo and the other guys at Clockwork our answer on Wednesday. So it's exciting times.

There are so many factors to consider when deciding. One of them might be your work surroundings. In that case Amsterdam and Clockwork would definitely be a - yes! Amsterdam is great and Clockworks office space is in a rebuilt church! I can vividly imagine taking a break from work, looking up at the hand-painted church ceiling and enjoying an espresso in Clockworks own coffe bar. Nice.

MC Miker G and DeeJay Sven have also been to Amsterdam. I'm guessing this crew is not where 50 Cent found his inspiration.

I'm off to Amsterdam for a meeting with a possible customer for my final exam project. The company is called Clockwork and their website is in dutch. I'll tell you more about my trip and Clockwork during or after this weekend.

After a day learning about innovation, culture and leadership from Anders Drejer (Århus School of Business) and then having the first hours of final-exam-preporatory chit chat with Bjarne - it was nice to bring together some good friends, eat sushi and drink beer.

I've seen it on film a thousand times, but never in real life. After Art Buchwald (perhaps the worlds most well-known humor columnist) died on Wednesday, The New York Times posted an article about him and an interview where he announces "I'm Art Buchwald, and I just died!". Experience it yourself right here.

Another source of old and often satirical humor can be found in one of my favourite video podcasts - The Vintage Toon Cast! Watch all sorts of classic cartoons where, for example, Superman puts Hitler behind bars. Sweet stuff. Follow this link and click on the icon that says 'subscribe in iTunes'.

The last days I've sort of been waiting to hear if Jon would be interested in doing his final exam project together with me i Amsterdam. Two days ago he finally said 'yes' - for now. We are meeting the guys from Clockwork in Amsterdam on Thursday to discuss the project. After this meeting we will take a final decision on wether we want to do it or not. But for now - JOHO!! or JOHO AND JOHON!

I'm usually a bit tired by the end of the week

My team is arranging it's last party at the KP tonight. The theme is fairytales and me and Torhild are dressing up as cats. To be more concrete, the fairytale is Alice in Wonderland. I'm Alices cat before she goes to Wonderland, and Torhild is the Cheshire Cat - which sort of is the fairytale version of 'me'.

Torhild has quite a bit to live up to, cause this must be the coolest, craziest cat in Wonderland!
